My name is Linda Addo from Nkurakan in the Yilo Krobo Municipality, Eastern Region. I am twenty two (22) years old. I have eight (8) siblings which I am the third born. I dropped out from school when I was in Junior High School (JHS) two (2) due to the death of my father.
Mrs. Crentsil came to my village to talk to the youth who were not schooling. I got the chance to talk to her and she agreed to help me. My interest was to become a semestress. She decided to help me by asking whether I have any artisan in mind that I want to learn from. I introduced her to Madam Faustina, a semestress at Nkurakan.
After negotiating with Madam Faustina, Mrs. Crentsil paid for my apprenticeship fee, bought me a new sewing machine and bought all the items needed for the training. I have now started my training and hope to become a good seamstress in the future in order to help my mother to take care of my younger siblings.
Thanks to Apprenticeship for the Needy Foundation.
